Inflation rose to 7.2% in March, which is the highest inflation rate since 2019, the National Statistics Office of Georgia reports.
The prices of oil and butter increased sharply by 35.8% in one year. The price of sweets increased by 13% and the price of bread and bread products increased by 7.7% on an annual basis, bm.ge reports.
The price increase for the groceries as a whole is 5.7%, which was reflected in annual inflation by 1.86%.
Here is the list of other food products that became more expensive:
Fish – by 12.2%
Coffee, Tea, Cocoa – by 13.7%
Sugar – by 13.0%
Non-Alcoholic drinks – by 5.0%
Meat – by 4.0%
Prices increased for both tobacco products (by 12.1%) and alcoholic beverages (by 6.2%).
On the contrary, price decreases detected in other grocery products: Fruit price went down by 8.6%, vegetables – by 12.0%.
