“Compared to the statistics of two weeks ago, the number of people infected with coronavirus in Georgia has increased 5 times,” stated Ivane Chkhaidze, head of the National Group of Immunization Technical Advisers adding “in terms of the number of 2,500 cases during the week, is not alarming, but in terms of the dynamics of the increase, it is really alarming,” said Ivane Chkhaidze, head of the National Group of Immunization Technical Advisors.
He pointed out if this trend continues and the number of cases doubles every week, the country will again have to switch to daily statistics instead of weekly, as this figure is truly alarming.
“There is actually an expectation of a peak in autumn. A specific month is also named – October,” Chkhaidze noted.
He highly recommends wearing a face mask, distancing, hand hygiene, vaccination, and avoiding public gatherings as much as possible.
