The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, operating under the Ministry of Infrastructure, has announced a 1.4 million GEL design competition for the creation of a modern recreational area near Chavchavadze Bridge in Kutaisi.
The procurement notice declares that the project envisions the development of a multifunctional riverside park along the Rioni River, designed to combine recreational, cultural, educational and social functions. The proposed space will feature a mediatheque, open-air amphitheater, cafés, dining areas, sports fields, exercise zones and playgrounds.
The concept of the project is based on a landscape-oriented approach, emphasizing minimal intervention in the natural environment. Plans include the creation of interconnected walking and cycling paths to encourage outdoor activity and accessibility. The recreational zone will be equipped with modern infrastructure, including parking facilities, outdoor lighting, irrigation, electrical and water supply systems as well as safety and security installations.
Proposals for the design competition will be accepted from December 3 to December 8. The winning bidder will be selected by a special evaluation commission after which detailed project documentation will be prepared and a construction tender announced.
