The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) released data on Tuesday revealing that money transfers to Georgia reached $315.5 million in June 2025, a 12.2% year-on-year increase. The growth shows an additional $34.4 million compared to June 2024. Total remittances for the first half of 2025 now stand at $1.715 billion.
The European Union remains the leading source of inbound remittances, making up 44.4% of June’s total with $140.2 million, up 17.3% compared to the same period last year. Italy, Germany and Greece were the top EU contributors.
Transfers from the United States jumped by 23% year-over-year to $58.7 million.
Meanwhile, remittances from Russia declined 15.9% in June, totaling $41.1 million. This shows a continued decrease in financial flows from Russia amid tension in the region.
Outbound transfers from Georgia also rose sharply. In June 2025, residents sent $34.3 million (₾93.6 million) abroad, up 21.8% from $28.1 million in June 2024.
