Otar Shamugia explained that Georgia can’t be disconnected from the current processes on the world market with regard to imported products.
“The products we import (we import most of our wheat and flour), of course, are affected by the world markets. Our goal is to maximize our growth of grain, wheat and other products in the country in order to increase internal production. According to preliminary data, compared to 2020, wheat production has increased significantly, by about 35%, which is important, but we have more opportunities, for which we will develop a specific mechanism to achieve a rate of at least about 50% self-sufficiency,” said Shamugia.
