The McCain Institute has announced that it received a $500,000 grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York. The funding will serve as seed support for initiatives focused on securing the freedom of political prisoners and hostages worldwide.
The institute’s mission dictates that the program’s first year will focus on several high-profile cases. “The initial focus will be on a few prominent cases, including Mzia Amaglobali — a Georgian journalist; Jesús Armas — a Venezuelan opposition leader; Maria Kolesnikova — a Belarusian flutist and activist and U.S.-Israeli hostages in Gaza,” the statement reads
