Kazakhstan is to finalize the construction of a container terminal at Poti Sea Port by April, a project worth $30 million, completing a major investment in regional trade. The initiative was first launched in 2023 by a private Kazakh investor. It will have the capacity to transfer 120,000 containers a year.
“Freight-rail traffic between Kazakhstan and Georgia increased by 32% year-on-year, reaching 4.7 million tons in 2024, while road freight transport grew by 17% to 42,000 tons,” Kazakhstan’s Transport Minister Marat Karabayev told The Caspian Post, pointing out the growing trade partnership between Georgia and Kazakhstan.
Notably, air travel between the two countries has also expanded, with Kazakhstan’s airlines operating 15 flights a week to Georgia.
