Tbilisi City Hall reports that Kakha Kaladze, the mayor of the capital, together with Deputy Mayor Andria Basilaia, met with the Regional Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Catarina Bjorlin Hansen. They talked about EBRD-supported projects and deadlines of contracts.
The conversation focused on the upgrade projects for municipal transport and solid waste management systems.
“The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is an important partner for Tbilisi Municipalitys,” said Andria Basilaia. “At the meeting, we talked about current projects, including bus renovation, subway car rehabilitation, and metro station renovation projects. We talked about specific dates and also, with the help of the bank, next year we will introduce additional 18-meter buses.
“The direction of solid waste is important. We are currently working on a strategy that is also being implemented with the assistance of the EBRD. As a result of this strategy, we will move to a modern separation method, improve waste collection technology and optimize routes, and as a result, the city will receive much better services.”
