Former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has fulfilled the GEL 1 million bail set as a preventive measure by securing it with his own property. His lawyer, Lili Gelashvili, confirmed that the bail was covered using Garibashvili’s residence located at Moseshvili 10 where he lives with his family.
The bail was initially imposed on October 24 by Tbilisi City Court Judge Eka Barbakadze who also ordered additional restrictions. Under the court’s decision, Garibashvili’s passport was confiscated and he was prohibited from leaving Georgia.
Garibashvili faces charges under Article 194, Part 3, Subparagraph ‘c’ of the Criminal Code of Georgia, involving the legalization of illegal income and the receipt of an especially large amount of money. The offense carries a potential prison sentence ranging from 9 to 12 years if convicted.
