According to GEOSTAT, packaged medicines were one of the main import goods in 15.4 billion worth of imports of Georgia in 2023. Pharmaceutical goods rank third in the rating of imported goods with a share of 3.5%.
Turkey has been the main importing country of medicines for Georgia for years. In 2023, Turkey had a 28.1% share in the import of packaged medicines. The cost of purchasing medicines from Turkey last year increased by 108.6%.
Statistics of the import of medicines from Turkey in the last 5 years:
In 2019 – 83.7 million dollars, 1 285 tons;
In 2020 – 45.9 million dollars, 528 tons;
In 2021 – 46.4 million dollars, 496 tons;
In 2022 – 73.2 million dollars, 1,048 tons;
In 2023 – 153 million dollars, 3 236 tons.
