Former Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani, who has been appointed Georgia’s Ambassador to the United States, stated he is proud that Georgia had very clearly defended its positions in all international formats. “We have been represented everywhere, be it the UN, the OSCE, the European Union, the Council of Europe. Georgia has held leading positions on all platforms. While discussing all kinds of topics, our issue has always been highlighted, as has our desire for European and Euro-Atlantic integration, which is one of the main priorities of our foreign policy,” Zalkaliani said.
He highlighted being proud of the approval of the Foreign Policy Strategy Paper during his tenure, which for the first time in the history of independent Georgia was the bearer of the highest legitimacy and clearly outlined the main direction of the country’s foreign policy.
“I want to thank you for the confidence you have placed in my new position. Representing Georgia in our main strategic partner country, the United States, is a huge responsibility. I promise you, with such high responsibility as I do my work, I will continue to work in this new position with even more responsibility. I promise you that during my tenure as Ambassador, relations with the United States will reach an even higher level,” he said.
Today, on April 4, Zalkaliani Resigned from Minister of Foreign Affairs, to be appointed Ambassador of Georgia to the US.
