Geosteel – 15 Years of Quality and Sustainability in Georgia

Geosteel, one of the leading international brands in the industrial sector, is celebrating its 15th anniversary of operations in the Georgian market.

Since its inception in 2010 with the opening of its metallurgical plant, Geosteel has become a leader in the sector, renowned for its high-quality products, international recognitions, innovations, modern technologies, and adherence to high standards.

Over the years, Geosteel’s quality rebar has been used in numerous large-scale projects in Georgia and Azerbaijan, including Tbilisi and Rustavi shopping malls, the Tbilisi-Rustavi highway, the Rikoti new Tunnel, the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center, and hotels of famous brands such as Marriott and Four Seasons in Baku. GeoSteel is also involved in several of the new and ongoing new marquee projects around the country, including: the Cityzen project development in Tbilisi; the Biograpi Living project developments in Tbilisi; the Alliance Centropolis development in Batumi; and several different projects by Next Group in Batumi.

15 years of sustainable development – this is the slogan Geosteel celebrates its successful achievements in Georgia. The company remains committed to continuous innovation and technological advancement, with a focus on increasing energy efficiency and producing high-quality products. These efforts aim to reduce Georgia’s reliance on imported rebar, allowing local consumers to benefit from superior products at lower prices than imports and purchase it directly from Geosteel factory.

Geosteel is one of the largest direct foreign industrial investments in Georgia, combining British, Indian, and Georgian investments. Since entering the Georgian market, the company has invested 200 million GEL, with foreign investments reaching 95million USD, and budgetary taxes 102 million USD.

Geosteel’s success is also reflected in the fact that it is one of the major employers in the Kvemo Kartli region, currently providing direct employment to nearly 500 people, with over 100 employees being part of the Geosteel team since the first day of its opening. The company’s commitment to the local workforce underscores its ongoing investment in the region’s economic growth.

In the large industrial sector Geosteel was also one of the first to quickly align with the country’s declared policy on energy efficiency and installed 4.5 mw of solar panels, significantly reducing the impact of emissions on the environment and air pollution. In the near future, the company plans to improve this achievement and focus on the generation of “green” and “clean” energy in rebar production process.

The company states that in the coming years, their main goal is to improve and refine production technologies in order to further increase ecological production and reduce harmful environmental impact.

In addition to producing high-quality products and implementing modern technologies, the company is also distinguished by its corporate social responsibility projects, which it has been actively carrying out in Rustavi over the years. The company organizes various initiatives to help socially vulnerable groups, children, and the elderly, as well as contributing to the greening of Rustavi and the development of children’s entertainment and sports fields.

During the 15 years, Geosteel’s dedication to quality and sustainability has earned the company numerous international accolades, including ISO certifications in quality management systems, healthcare, safety, and environmental care. Notably, the company is the only one in the Caucasus region holding the UK CARES certification, a prestigious award given to companies in the steel industry that adhere to world-class quality standards. There are only a few companies worldwide that hold this prestigious certificate, not just in our region. The UK CARES certification is a gruelling certification that demands detailed on-site audits every 6 months to ensure consistent and regular quality controls are maintained. GeoSteel also hold quality certifications to produce its Rebar as per the American quality standards, as well as the European quality standards. This further shows the company’s commitment to acquiring only the most difficult product quality certifications.

“As Geosteel celebrates 15-year milestone, We have ambitious plans for the future. We want to offer local consumers modern, high-quality, energy-efficient products that meet modern standards. Our company has been developing year by year, constantly implementing innovative production methods in the industry. Over the years, we have equipped our factory with modern equipment and high-tech filters, which has increased our eco production. We are producing Green Steel which maximally increases the energy efficiency of buildings in construction. As a result, we are one of the leaders in the region and offer the best quality compared to imported rebar. We want to provide high quality products to local consumers, the construction sector and the real estate market”, – the company states.

Geosteel aims to continue its successful 15-year history by introducing new technologies, improving product quality, and supporting sustainable development. The company remains committed to contributing to the country’s economic growth and increasing its investment in both the local workforce and budget revenues.
