‘Georgian Wheat Culture: Tradition and Rituals’, Georgia’s nomination for UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, recently passed the first phase of reviews. Recognizing its cultural significance, the Government of Georgia designed this submission to acknowledge the heritage of the national importance of wheat culture.
The first stage involves technical evaluations of submissions which were made on March 28, 202,4 from Georgia and the next one, substantive assessment, will conclude in November 2025, followed by the finals scheduled for December 8-13, 2025. The final evaluations will be a part of the 20th session of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in New Delhi, India.
