Geostat published preliminary data revealing that Georgia’s economy recorded a 6.5% growth in July and an 8% expansion over the first seven months of 2025. The growth estimate is mainly supported by strong business activity, with the turnover of VAT-paying enterprises rising by 9.2% last month to 16.057 billion GEL.
At the same time, the number of new enterprises registered in the country fell. In July, 6,154 new businesses were registered, a 3.2% decrease compared to the same period in 2024.
Geostat’s Deputy Executive Director, Paata Shavishvili, explained that the decline was primarily the result of fewer registrations by local individual entrepreneurs.
Despite the slowdown in new businesses, the solid increase in VAT-paying company turnover continues to drive overall economic performance.
