The National Statistics Office (Geostat) released new data revealing that consumer prices in Georgia rose by 4.3% year-on-year in July 2025, driven primarily by significant increases in food and healthcare costs.
The largest contributor to annual inflation was the food and non-alcoholic beverages category where prices grew by 10.4%, accounting for 3.45 percentage points of the overall inflation rate. Sharp increases were recorded in vegetables (25.5%), oils and fats (17.0%), and coffee, tea and cocoa (13.6%).
Healthcare costs also increased significantly, rising by 9.5% and contributing 0.8 percentage points to the inflation rate. Out-patient services saw the largest increase at 10.5%, followed by hospital services (9.2%) and medical products (8.4%).
Transport was the only major category to see a price decline, falling 3.8% year-on-year. This drop, mainly due to a 6.1% decrease in the cost of operating personal transport equipment, reduced the overall inflation rate by 0.48 percentage points.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile items, stood at 2.4% annually, or 2.2% when excluding tobacco products.
