Georgian Railways has announced a tender for the procurement of 10 locomotives along with associated services. The State Procurement Agency has estimated the tender’s value, exclusive of VAT, to be 183,849,690 GEL.
The acceptance of proposals for the acquisition of DC mainline electric vehicles and associated services will commence on December 3 and conclude on December 5.
As per the tender specifications, the steam locomotives must be brand new and released no earlier than 2023. The successful company will be obliged to deliver 10 locomotives to Georgian Railways within a year from the contract signing.
Outlined on the procurement agency’s website, the electric vehicles must operate within the Tbilisi-Marabda-Akhalkalaki region. Each electric car should have the capacity to transport a minimum of 1,380 tons. The trains must also be compatible with Georgia’s 1,520 mm gauge and capable of operating on electrified direct current railways.
