GEORGIA TODAY joins a nationwide warning strike calling for a new round of parliamentary elections and the release of the hundreds of people detained during ongoing nationwide protests, which began at the end of November when the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party suspended the country’s EU accession process.
Today, from 15:00 to 18:00, strike participants will halt work, temporarily close their doors and stand outside their workplaces in a demonstration of the potential dire repercussions of political isolation for Georgia, such as economic stagnation, unemployment and poverty.
This will serve as a message for Georgian Dream: how dire the country’s prospects could be if the regime’s anti-democratic policies continue and the country is isolated.
