The Georgian government plans to introduce an electronic market research system to increase transparency, prevent informal deals between procurement bodies and companies and ensure fair competition in public tenders.
The government officials stated that the initiative is a step in the country’s anti-corruption efforts. The system will make the procurement process fully digital, eliminating the possibility of behind-the-scenes agreements and enabling equal access to information for all participants.
Authorities say the digitalization of market research will improve cost efficiency, reduce risks of collusion and ultimately enhance the quality of public works and services. “This is a very important initiative that will eliminate any deals between procuring organizations and the respective companies. Everything will be completely transparent, ensuring entirely fair competition. All potential agreements will be fully safeguarded against manipulation. This will improve cost efficiency and, ultimately, have a positive impact on the quality of the completed work.” officials emphasized.
Specific details of how the electronic method will operate have not yet been disclosed.
