Georgian State Electrosystem published data revealing that Georgia resumed electricity exports in 2025, earning USD 9.2 million in revenue. The country exported 187.67 million kWh of electricity during the month, with Turkey receiving the bulk of 172.3 million kWh. A smaller share was directed to Armenia.
However, the volume shows a sharp decline compared to May 2024 when Georgia exported over 311 million kWh. Market analysts warn that this trend is likely to continue throughout the year.
falling electricity prices and waning demand in Turkey are the primary factors behind the projected annual drop in exports, Mariam Chakhvashvili, Head of Research at Galt & Taggart, noted.
