“From today, the government’s decision to stop visa-free travel for Russians came into force at the border. The visa regime will also allow us to strengthen the security of our state,” Serhiy Deineko, Head of State Border Guard Service of Ukraine stated.
He noted that from now on, every citizen of Russia will have to justify their purpose of travel to Ukraine in advance. He warned Russian citizens: even if they receive a visa, it does not ensure unhindered entry into Ukraine, as visa holders must also meet other conditions for crossing the Ukrainian border.
He added that the border guards will definitely check them. If there is a justified reason, the visa will be canceled on the spot.
