Fire Extinguishing Works in Progress in Borjomi Municipality

In Borjomi Municipality, the fire extinguishing works are in progress, despite the difficult terrain. The fire sources of different complexity are still detectable. The area of the fire fighting operation is divided into three sectors. Active localization and liquidation works are being carried out on all three sectors. Routes to the fire sources are intensively made by heavy machinery and tractors. Rescuers carry out fire extinguishing tasks both with individual equipment and with the help of fire trucks.

Under the instructions of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, in order to extinguish fire in Borjomi municipality, the employees of the relevant services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture operate in a coordinated manner. At the moment, approximately 1200 people are involved in various works on site.

300 firefighters and 300 employees of the Special Tasks Department are participating in fire extinguishing measures. Helicopters of the border police are still involved in the process and relevant fire-rescue vehicles are mobilized. Fire sources are monitored by drones.

The operational management headquarters at the site have been created, headed by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Ioseb Chelidze, and the Head of the Emergency Situations Management Service, Temur Mghebrishvili.
