“We are not in a fifth wave; this is a part of the fourth wave which is not over yet. Therefore, it is important to maintain the right accents. The direction of the wave is descending,” stated the Minister of Health of Georgia, Ekaterine Tikaradze.
She also noted that the vaccination marathon was quite successful, which resulted in the vaccination of a group of people who would not get vaccinated on their own initiative. The Minister added that it is also important to extend this not only to the 50 large villages that were selected for this phase but also to relatively small villages.
“It is important to intensify information communication at all levels about why vaccination is important, and to refrain from any compulsory measures as much as possible. This is the position of the Ministry of Health, which has been repeatedly voiced. We do not see any basis for coercion at this stage. I believe that at this stage we do not need mandatory vaccination. It is important to investigate each reason why a citizen refuses to be vaccinated, to give them an explanation,” Tikaradze said.
