The Education and Science Committee approved the amendments to the Law on Broadcasting.
David Songhulashvili, Chairman of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee noted the changes take into account the trends of technological development and provide a single-level playing field with the new types of audio-visual media appearing on the market.
“The rules are intended to preserve cultural diversity, improve the accessibility of audio-visual media for people with disabilities, prevent the spread of hate speech and incitement to terrorism, and effectively address the risks and repercussions of the distribution of these materials while also ensuring media pluralism and protecting minors and customers,” the speaker noted.
