Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during her official visit to Baku, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding strategic partnership and advancing new joint projects.
Georgia’s Economy Ministry says the meeting emphasized the importance of Georgian-Azerbaijani cooperation for ensuring stability and development in the South Caucasus, especially through bilateral and regional economic initiatives.
Kvrivishvili expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its continued support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders.
The discussion focused on enhancing trade and economic ties, with particular attention given to strategic sectors such as green energy, transport, logistics, IT, and communications. Officials noted that ongoing collaboration is already attracting increased investment in both countries.
Key projects highlighted included the Black Sea Submarine Electricity Cable, aimed at deepening regional energy cooperation, and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which is nearing completion and expected to significantly boost the region’s transit capacity.
The two sides agreed to continue taking concrete steps toward implementing new infrastructure and connectivity projects.
Tourism was also discussed, with Azerbaijan identified as a strategic tourism market for Georgia. Additionally, the conversation touched on regional and global security challenges, underlining the shared interest in maintaining peace and stability.
Georgia’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Zurab Pataradze, also attended the meeting.
