Egyptian airline Air Cairo, present in the Georgian aviation market since 2014, is set to launch a new direct air route between Cairo and Batumi, opening a fresh chapter in travel connections between the two countries.
Georgia’s Civil Aviation Agency, the flights will operate during the 2026 summer navigation season. Based on the airline’s official application, non-scheduled (charter) flights on the Cairo–Batumi–Cairo route will be carried out once a week, every Tuesday, from June 30 through September 22.
Notably, this will mark the first time that direct air services are established between Cairo and Batumi.
The Civil Aviation Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia granted Air Cairo the necessary operating permit on March 30.
At present, the airline runs weekly flights between Sharm El Sheikh and Tbilisi. The addition of the Batumi route is expected to create a new tourist corridor linking Egypt’s capital with Georgia’s Black Sea coast, further strengthening tourism ties and facilitating the movement of organized travel groups between the two destinations.
