Customs officers discovered a shipment of over 1.5 kg of undeclared gold at the Sarpi border checkpoint. The officials became suspicious because the accused, a foreign national, was driving a motorcar, thus, they conducted further search.
Officers uncovered 1,565.4 grams of gold jewelry, valued at GEL 240,461.09, hidden in plastic and paper boxes with glue lace as a seal on top.
The case has been redirected to the Investigation Service for further evaluation.
