The court is set to announce its decision on April 17 regarding Saba Sordia, a journalist at Indigo who was detained 48 hours on administrative charges for allegedly disobeying a police order.
During today’s hearing, Sordia recounted the details from the detention and described a tense interaction with police officers after they conducted an unsanctioned bag search. “They arbitrarily decided to search my bag, which I found unjustified,” Sordia said.
Two witnesses provided conflicting testimonies: one denied touching the bag, while another claimed an officer reached into its pocket, fueling Sordia’s frustration. He also rejected accusations that he called the officers ‘slaves,’ explaining, “I did not use this phrase at all.”
Sordia further recalled verbal abuse during the transport to the station, with officers calling him a ‘provocateur.’
“Before they took me to the courtroom, we promised each other we wouldn’t say anything that hadn’t happened. I fulfilled that promise, they broke it,” he added.
The case continues to draw attention as the court prepares to announce its verdict.
