In the past 24 hours, 3,064 new infection cases have been confirmed, Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force under the Interagency Coordination Council, stated during today’s briefing at the Administration of the Government.
He discussed the latest coronavirus statistics and the Government’s efforts as of December 22.
“17,007 tests have been conducted throughout the country under the intensive testing program in the past 24 hours, including11,288 antigen and 5,719 PCR tests.
“Consequently, we have 3,064 new cases confirmed in the past 24 hours. Since the first outbreak of COVID-19 in the country, we have had a total of 212,526 confirmed cases.
“We have 3,740 recoveries in the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of recoveries to 188,408.
“Unfortunately, 42 people have died in the past 24 hours. Since the outset of the pandemic, we have had a total of 2 182 fatalities.
“Of the 3,064 cases identified today, 1,241 were confirmed in Tbilisi, 191 in Adjara, 497 in Imereti, 246 in Kvemo Kartli, 244 in Shida Kartli, 52 in Guria, 264 in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 196 in Kakheti, 63 in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 53 in Samtskhe-Javakheti, and 17 in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.
“Presently, we have 21,910 active infection cases. 6,358 persons are treated in hospitals, including 2,787 in Tbilisi, 692 in Adjara, and 1,293 in Imereti. We have 1,104 severe cases, including 534 in Tbilisi, 123 in Adjara, and 242 in Imereti, of whom 427 are on a ventilator, including 216 in Tbilisi, 37 in Adjara, and 62 in Imereti.
“1,671 persons are in clinical hotels, including 603 in Tbilisi, 747 in Adjara, and 110 in Imereti. 13,881 persons are recovering at home.
“We have 470 persons in quarantine zones, including 201 in Tbilisi, 137 in Adjara, and 6 in Imereti.
“From October 6 through December 21, a total of 20,799 persons have been transported from the state border into quarantine zones.
“Presently, 41,006 persons are self-isolating, including 19,651 in Tbilisi, 4,766 in Adjara, and 5,570 in Imereti,” Berdia Sichinava said.
