On April 23, organized by CENN and the Society Biliki, an EU-supported rural innovation knowledge hub in Gori was launched.
The goal of the Innovative Knowledge Hub is to empower young people at the local level and promote their social and green entrepreneurship development. The Innovative Knowledge Hub is a youth workspace that will be accessible to young people living in the Shida Kartli region. The Hub will periodically host environmental and youth campaigns and beneficiaries will also have the opportunity to meet with representatives from various fields and hold public discussions and educational events.
The opening event was opened by Nino Samvelidze, Youth Programme Manager at the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia; Nana Janashia, CENN Executive Director; Marika Mghebrishvili, Society Biliki; Nino Berianidze, Gori Municipality City Hall; and Zurab Kajrishvili, Gori Municipality Assembly.
Following the welcome speeches, the attending public was able to hear what steps have been taken by CENN and the Society Biliki to engage young people in entrepreneurial potential and educational activities, as well as visit the exhibition of the EU-supported Youth Climate Change Competition.
The Innovative Knowledge Hub was created as part of the EU-supported project “EU4Youth: Social Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development (SEED) for Green Growth” implemented by CENN in partnership with KRDF and Green Lane (Armenia). The aim of the project is to discover the entrepreneurial potential in the most vulnerable municipalities and to promote entrepreneurship opportunities among youth. The creation and operation of an innovative knowledge hub is based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Society “Biliki” and CENN in November 2021, according to which the parties aim to create and operate innovative knowledge hubs, which is reflected in the preparation of an action plan, providing a safe working space for the youth of Gori, organizing trainings, seminars, workshops and various activities and discovering the entrepreneurial potential in young people.
