Canada has stressed the necessity for in-depth investigations into the irregularities of the Georgian parliamentary elections, mentioning voter intimidation, bribery, and other violations reported by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
The country announced its plans to reevaluate its relationship with Georgian authorities in coordination with G7 and EU partners, emphasizing that free and fair elections are a priority.
Despite still being open to partnership and cooperation, Canada is firm in its belief that respect for democracy, human rights, and the rule of law is essential. The official statement called on Georgian officials to adhere to the rule of law, human rights, and security during peaceful demonstrations.
