The Budget and Finance Committee is launching a thematic inquiry on the issue of public debt and fiscal stability under the influence of co-epidemic.
“It is important to increase public access to financial sector research. As you know, the government debt has increased significantly in the wake of the pandemic. If in 2019 the government debt-to-GDP ratio was 40.4%, in the pandemic 2020 it exceeded the 60% milestone, and in 2021 it fell below the critical threshold to 51.1%,” Irakli Kovzanadze, Chairman of the Committee stated.
As he elucidated, in cooperation with the National Democratic Institute (NDI) a thematic inquiry group has been set up, which will work on a very important issue for the country.
“I hope that in three months we will receive an interesting document that will help us make a number of decisions,” Irakli Kovzanadze remarked.
Irakli Kovzanadze will be the key speaker of the thematic inquiry group.
