The National Environmental Agency has officially confirmed that the quality of Black Sea water along Georgia’s entire coastline remains within safe and normal parameters.
In a statement released Monday, the agency said it conducts regular water monitoring at 12 designated points each month. These assessments show a wide range of hydro-biological and chemical indicators, including levels of 13 heavy metals, total petroleum hydrocarbons, 16 polyaromatic hydrocarbons and various other physical-chemical parameters.
Officials also said that Georgia’s water monitoring efforts align with the European Union’s Marine Strategy Framework Directive. “The National Environmental Agency continues to work actively to enhance its monitoring system in accordance with EU standards,” the statement said.
