Georgia’s Minister of Education and Science, Givi Mikanadze, announced plans to introduce an additional stage in the school registration process, prioritizing enrollment based on a child’s residential location.
Mikanadze explained that this new stage will be added before the nationwide registration phase and will initially apply to major cities. The approach aims to ensure that children are first registered in schools corresponding to their designated residential zones.
He stated that the system will expand gradually: “We are introducing a new element to the registration process. Before the universal registration stage, we plan to implement an additional phase tied to enrolling children in the school associated with their residential area. At first, this will apply to large cities and later it may be extended further depending on need.”
