Ambassador of Georgia David Zalkaliani held a conversation with the Counselor of the US Department of State Derek Chollet.
The parties underlined the solid commitment to Georgia-US strategic partnership and reaffirmed their readiness to work actively to expand the partnership in all key areas, including by intensifying high-level contacts. Ambassador and Counselor discussed current developments in the region and Georgia’s plans for EU membership, Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration issues, and the expectations of the Madrid Summit.
The parties welcomed the Georgian Prime Minister’s Peaceful Neighborhood Initiative and the readiness of the Georgian side to play an important role in peace and stability in the region. In this context, parties underlined the US interest in promoting peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
Ambassador thanked the US for its significant contribution and strong support to Georgia in strengthening its defense capabilities, Euro-Atlantic integration, democratic institutions, and economic growth over the 30 years of bilateral diplomatic relations.
American side reaffirmed firm support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
