The body of the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny was given to his mother.
“Alexei’s body was given to his mother.. Thank you very much to everyone who demanded this with us. For now, Lyudmila Ivanovna is in Salekhard. The funeral is still ahead. We don’t know whether the authorities will interfere with carrying it out the way the family wants it and as Alexey deserves. We will report information as it becomes available,” Alexei Navalny’s press secretary Kira Yarmysh (listed as a “foreign agent” in Russia) wrote in Telegram.
In Russia, rallies are held in memory of Alexei Navalny and the second anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine.
Russian opposition leader died in jail on February 16. He was 47.
