Georgia’s State Audit Office has announced plans to conduct a compliance audit of the public agency Enterprise Georgia, covering the period from 2023 to 2025. The review is included in the Audit Office’s annual plan and will focus on whether the agency’s operations align with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Enterprise Georgia plays a central role in the country’s economic policy, with a mandate to improve the business environment, support private sector growth, attract foreign investment and expand exports. The agency operates through three core pillars: business development, export promotion and investment facilitation.
Under its business development programs, Enterprise Georgia supports entrepreneurship, the creation of new enterprises, and the expansion or modernization of existing businesses and hotel projects. Its export division works to strengthen the international competitiveness of Georgian products and diversify export destinations while the investment arm serves as a ‘one-stop shop’ for foreign investors, coordinating with government institutions to facilitate investment projects.
The audit will also take place against the backdrop of fluctuating agency funding in recent years. Enterprise Georgia’s budget stood at GEL 253 million in 2023, declined to GEL 222 million in 2024, rose again to GEL 247 million in 2025 and is set at GEL 183 million for 2026.
The Audit Office stated the upcoming review will assess how effectively the agency has implemented its mandate and complied with legal standards over the three-year period.
