GeoStat: Inflation rate reaches 5.3% in October under EU methodology

GeoStat: Inflation rate reaches 5.3% in October under EU methodology

The Georgian National Statistics Office (GeoStat) has published the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for October 2025, calculated according to European Union methodology.

Based on the report, Georgia’s inflation rate in October stood at 5.3%, slightly higher than the 5.2% rate determined using the national calculation method.

Under the EU HICP methodology, price increases were observed across several major categories:

  • Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages – 10.7%

  • Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco – 5.6%

  • Clothing and Footwear – 0.3%

  • Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels – 0.5%

  • Furniture, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance – 2.3%

  • Health – 9.1%

  • Transport – 0.8%

  • Communications – 2.7%

  • Recreation and Culture – 0.7%

  • Education – 2.0%

  • Hotels, Cafés and Restaurants – 6.5%

  • Miscellaneous Goods and Services – 6.5%

GeoStat notes that the HICP provides internationally comparable measures of inflation and reflects consumer price trends using standards established by the European Statistical System (ESS).
