TBC’s Commitment to a Sustainable Future: Celebrating Earth Day Through Action
TBC, the country’s leading financial institution and one of the largest companies in Georgia, is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of environmental and social responsibility and promoting sustainable development. Guided by strong ethical principles and an established internal culture, TBC plays a significant role in the financial, economic, and social development of Georgia.
April 22 marks Earth Day—a reminder of the critical importance of protecting our planet. TBC has long recognized its responsibility and the opportunities it has to positively impact the environment and support sustainability. For TBC, the journey toward greater environmental responsibility begins with internal transformation. Over the past several years, the company has actively implemented a range of environmental initiatives, both within its operations and across the broader community. In 2024, TBC took particularly notable steps in this direction.
TBC’s Environmental Protection and Climate Change Policy integrates environmental and climate-related considerations into the company’s organizational culture. This policy fosters environmentally responsible actions across all areas of the bank’s activities and applies to all employees.
In 2024, TBC’s sustainable portfolio exceeded expectations, surpassing the annual target by 23.79%. While the goal for 2024 was GEL 1.4 billion, the sustainable portfolio reached GEL 1.733 billion by year-end, with a significant portion allocated to green financing and climate-related projects.
Demonstrating its ongoing commitment to international standards, TBC successfully passed the ISO 14001:2015 environmental management system audit for the fifth consecutive time. This certification affirms that the bank’s environmental practices align with global best practices.
Further advancing its environmental initiatives, TBC, in partnership with Visa, launched Georgia’s first eco-friendly Visa Infinite credit card, exclusively for TBC Wealth Management clients. This innovative card is made from recycled materials, combining premium services with a sustainable approach.
TBC has also intensified efforts to reduce internal resource consumption. In 2024 alone, the company collected and recycled over 2,300 kilograms of plastic. Plastic collection bins are available at 46 TBC locations across Tbilisi, Rustavi, Batumi, and Kutaisi.
The company’s paper recycling program, initiated in 2015, has recycled a total of 500 tons of paper to date. In 2024, TBC recycled 46,840 kilograms of paper, saving approximately 782 trees. The adoption of digital contracts through electronic signatures has also made a significant impact, reducing paper consumption by 70,000 sheets annually.
Additionally, TBC achieved a 10% reduction in paper use per employee and a 13% decrease in water consumption per employee compared to the previous year, saving a total of 5,552,000 liters of water.
Beyond internal efforts, TBC has championed environmental awareness through various marketing campaigns. Notably, TBC collaborated with the company Tene to recycle unused plastic into eco-friendly mobile phone holders and accessories. Previously, TBC also repurposed advertising banners into functional items, promoting creative recycling solutions.
TBC’s environmental initiatives are part of its broader commitment to making a meaningful difference—one step at a time.

TBC Mobile Bank Launches Another Eco-Friendly Initiative
On April 22, companies around the world celebrate Earth Day through various initiatives aimed at raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainability.
In line with this global movement, TBC has long been a creator and supporter of eco-friendly projects.
Following previous initiatives — such as producing laptop bags and backpacks from recycled advertising banners — TBC, in partnership with Tene, has now launched a new project. Through this collaboration, 4,500 kilograms of insulating rubber, 2,250 kilograms of bottle caps, and 2.3 kilograms of secondary cables were collected, recycled, and transformed into eco-friendly mobile phone holders, available at TBC branches.
The mobile phone holder itself showcases innovative recycling:
- The hanger is made from damaged USB cables.
- The plate that fits into the phone case is crafted from recycled TPU material.
- The decorative accessories are made from PLA plastic, an environmentally friendly material that biodegrades easily when exposed to soil.
As a company committed to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles, TBC recognizes the power of its actions to positively impact the environment and drive sustainable development.

MP Development Successfully Completes Bond Program with TBC Capital Support
MP Development, with the support of TBC Capital and Galt & Taggart, successfully placed $17.7 million in bonds under the “Produce in Georgia” capital market support program. The 2-year, unsubordinated and unsecured bonds are planned for listing on the Georgian Stock Exchange and mark the first capital market transaction of 2025.
This issuance is the final tranche of a €24 million multi-currency bond program launched in July 2024. Part of the funds will refinance existing obligations, while the rest will support new investments, particularly the acquisition of properties in Tbilisi.
In 2024, MP Development had placed $5 million and €3 million in bonds at 8.75% and 7.75% interest rates, respectively. Due to strong investor demand, the 2025 issuance rate was set at a competitive 8.5%. The bonds were available to both resident and non-resident individuals and legal entities.
“We thank TBC Capital, Galt & Taggart, and Aderesti Georgia for their support. Strong investor interest once again confirms the growing trust in MP Development’s 13-year success story,” said Papuna Katsitadze, Director of MP Development.
“We are proud to have supported MP Development in completing their bond program. High investor demand allowed for an improved interest rate, offering new investment opportunities in multiple currencies,” added Otar Sharikadze, Director of TBC Capital.
“It’s an honor for Galt & Taggart to assist MP Development with this milestone, contributing to the first capital market transaction of 2025,” said Giorgi Kuprashvili, General Director of Galt & Taggart.
“The ‘Produce in Georgia’ program, active since April 2024, is driving capital market development. MP Development was its first beneficiary, with up to 241 million GEL raised from 20 applications so far,” noted Irakli Gabriadze, Deputy Director of the Produce in Georgia agency.
MP Development currently manages 13 shopping centers and 4 gas stations across Georgia and continues to expand its real estate portfolio with the newly raised funds.
Bangkok — An Asian Restaurant Thriving with the Support of TBC Business
Nine years ago, the Asian restaurant Bangkok entered the local market, offering a menu thoughtfully adapted to Georgian tastes. The founders, Zurab Jishiashvili and Irakli Pitiuri, set out with two clear goals: to popularize Asian cuisine and to balance each dish’s aroma with the Georgian palate.
Today, Bangkok stands as one of the leading Asian fast-food chains in Georgia, uniting the flavors of Japanese, Thai, and Chinese cuisines under one brand.
“Bangkok is a restaurant chain carefully adapted to Georgian tastes. From the beginning, our main priority has been using only high-quality, fresh ingredients. We place special emphasis on our sauces, which we prepare ourselves to achieve the perfect aromas. Our menu is also notable for its diversity — alongside sushi and atrium, we offer a variety of healthy options,” says Magda Makaradze, manager of Bangkok.
Growing a business, especially in the restaurant industry, demands substantial financial support. With most Asian restaurants relying on imported ingredients, operational costs are high, and profit margins are relatively low.
“You simply cannot expand without the support of a bank. In our case, TBC has been a key partner — from our early days as a small business to today, they have supported every step of our journey. Looking ahead, we plan to build a warehouse and a production facility — something that would be impossible without TBC’s continued support,” adds Magda.
Looking to the future, Bangkok aims to expand beyond Tbilisi, establishing a presence across Georgia and eventually entering international markets.
TBC and Visionary Foundation Join Forces to Support Student Education
Supporting education is a key strategic priority for TBC, and the organization remains deeply committed to empowering the next generation.
This year, TBC has partnered with the Visionary Educational Foundation to fully fund the tuition fees of several students.
The Visionary Foundation is dedicated to assisting socially vulnerable and state-supported youth in choosing a profession and setting career goals.
To achieve this, Visionary offers three educational pathways designed to help students and applicants discover their interests and achieve professional success in their chosen fields.
In addition, Visionary provides applicants with the opportunity to prepare for national exams. Students who maintain above-average academic performance at university are guaranteed continued funding of their education.
To further support professional development and career planning, Visionary has launched two key projects: a career orientation event and the HR mentoring program “UP – U Pathfinder.” These initiatives aim to help young people unlock their full potential and take confident steps toward their future careers.
Interested students are encouraged to visit the Visionary website or follow their social media channels to submit their applications. Visionary welcomes applicants with strong academic achievements and the motivation to turn their talents into lasting success.
