Due to the increased demand for cargo transportation from China, Georgia’s transit sector has expanded. New companies, WORLDLOG and SILKPOST, have entered the market as service operators of the Chinese land route. For your information, transportation is carried out exclusively by trucks, which helps minimize transit time.
SILKPOST was founded in 2020, while WORLDLOG was established in 2022. Both SILKPOST and WORLDLOG specialize in international land parcel and bulky cargo transportation. SILKPOST focuses on parcel transportation from China, while WORLDLOG handles bulky cargo.
These companies are tailored to meet customer needs: the process of purchasing goods from China has been simplified, prices are customized, and parcels and cargo of any complexity are transported to the desired location.
SILKPOST has branches in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi, and Gori. To make the service more convenient for customers, the company has warehouses in two cities in China—Guangzhou and Yiwu—and operates shipments with its own vehicles. Their top priority is transit times. Customers receive parcels and cargo in Georgia within 20 days after delivery to the Chinese warehouse, as noted by Silk Post Director Rezo Rukhadze.
For reference, in 2024, the companies processed up to 1,400 cubic meters of cargo from China per month, which means that 14 vehicles departed from China each month.
In response to customer demand, in 2024 the companies expanded to Turkey. Their warehouses in Istanbul, located on both the European and Asian sides, allow them to offer competitive market rates. Notably, two sets of cargo and parcel vehicles depart Turkey each week, with a transit time of 3-4 working days.
Georgia’s favorable transport and geographical location provide a significant advantage compared to neighboring countries. In 2024, there was a growing demand for transit routes to neighboring countries, including Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Armenia. The companies facilitated the export of cargo imported from China to these regions. Several large projects were implemented, and with increasing interest, negotiations with transport companies are underway for more exciting future collaborations with companies from neighboring countries, as stated by Eka Digmelashvili, Director of World Logistics.
Today, WORLDLOG and SILKPOST are the leading transport companies for land-based shipments from China to Georgia.
In 2025, the companies plan to further reduce transit times alongside the development of road infrastructure. Additionally, due to growing volumes, several more flights per week will be added, enabling importers to receive their products sooner at Tbilisi warehouses.
Groupage cargo transportation is the primary focus of the companies. WORLDLOG and SILKPOST provide a comprehensive logistics service chain for international mixed cargo transportation. Clients receive international transportation services within a single framework, based on efficiency and reliability. The goals, desires, and needs of users are taken into account and reflected in the services provided.
