The price of medicines in Turkey is set to increase by 25% starting from December 25. This order was issued by the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on December 15, 2023.
“It is hard to predict how much all this will affect the medicines that are now importing from Turkey, because there are many components to be taken into account: in what volume a particular medicine is imported into Georgia, which medicine was affected by the fluctuation of the exchange rate, etc. Any such change is an indicator that we should significantly reduce our dependence on drugs imported from Turkey”, Irakli Margvelashvili, Director of the Association of Pharmaceutical Companies.
