This Year, the Export of Georgian Wine will be 120 Million Liters

According to the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Otar Shamugia, 120 million liters of wine are set to be exported from Georgia in 2023.

According to the minister, the amount of processed grapes has increased from 50,000 tons to 260,000 tons in the last 10 years, while the income of winegrowers has increased from 35 million GEL to 270 million GEL.

“Where 10 years ago, the export was 20 million liters, this year we expect to export about 120 million liters of wine. In total, the export of wine and spirits will be $400 million,” Shamugia said.

According to the minister, 10 years ago the government spent 1.8 million GEL on the marketing of Georgian wine, and this year the state allocated 16 million GEL. Shamugia notes that by 2030, Georgia should receive $1 billion from the export of wine and spirits.
