Education is a pathway to success, and Georgia’s latest achievement at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2026) is yet another testament to the importance of investing in young talent. As the main supporter of technology Olympiads in Georgia, TBC continues to support young tech talent and create opportunities for them to achieve success on the international stage.

At IOI 2026, held in Tashkent, Georgian students competed alongside the world’s most talented young programmers and brought home two medals and two honorable mentions. Andria Vasadze won a silver medal, while Vladimir Prangishvili earned a bronze medal. Nikoloz Melikishvili and Mate Rechiashvili received honorable mentions.

All four members of Georgia’s team are students at Vladimir Komarov Tbilisi Physics and Mathematics Public School No. 199 and the Mziuri Information Technology Center.

The International Olympiad in Informatics is one of the world’s most prestigious international competitions in technology and science. It brings together high-school students from around the globe to test their knowledge and skills in algorithms and programming by solving complex computational problems.

In partnership with TBC and the Business and Technology University (BTU), the Georgian team completed an intensive preparation program as part of the Tech Olympiads Hub initiative. The preparation sessions were held in Tbilisi, Bakuriani and at BTU, where students worked on algorithmic problems and practical cases tailored to the IOI competition format. The team was mentored by Professor Giorgi Mandaria, Bakar Gamezardashvili and Tarash Dolaberidze.

The International Olympiad in Informatics is one of five international academic olympiads recognized as a priority by Georgia’s Ministry of Education, Science and Youth. Georgia has been participating in the IOI since 1996. The national team is selected based on the results of the National Informatics Olympiad and additional selection rounds.

The selection, preparation and participation of Georgia’s teams in international academic Olympiads are carried out with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia and administered by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia.

Strengthening Georgia’s education and technology ecosystem is one of TBC’s strategic priorities. The bank continues to support initiatives that give young people opportunities to develop in modern technology fields, strengthen their practical skills and prepare them for success on the international stage.
