Angela Bakuradze: 33 Years of Trust, Knowledge, and Continuous Growth

For many people, decades of experience in medicine represent the culmination of a professional journey. For others, however, they mark the beginning of a new chapter. Angela Bakuradze, founder and director of the aesthetic medicine center Millennium, is one of those people. She believes true professionalism is built on continuous growth, lifelong learning, and the ability to embrace new developments.
“Today, aesthetic medicine is one of the fastest-growing fields, where new technologies, scientific research, and innovative approaches are constantly redefining existing standards. In this world, professionalism is not measured solely by the number of years one has worked. It is defined by the determination to never stop learning and to remain in constant pursuit of new possibilities,” Bakuradze says.
For her, learning has never been limited to mastering new equipment or techniques. It is a responsibility to her patients, her profession, and the reputation she has built over the years. That is why she has consistently participated in international congresses, attended professional training programs, kept up with the latest scientific publications, and shared knowledge and experience with colleagues around the world.
Above all, however, people remain her greatest motivation. Every patient’s transformation is a reminder that aesthetic medicine is about more than external change. In many cases, it can restore confidence, improve self-esteem, and enhance a person’s quality of life.

Aesthetic medicine is constantly evolving. How do you choose the methods and technologies you introduce at Millennium?
For us, the main criterion has never been innovation for its own sake. Modern medicine must be evidence-based, and we follow that same principle. When a new technology enters the market, we first review the clinical research, international recommendations, and practical experience from countries where the method is already in use. It is essential to understand how well its effectiveness has been proven, how predictable the results are, and whether it meets the highest safety standards.
We also assess whether a particular technology is truly necessary and beneficial for our patients. Many trends emerge in the market, but not all of them prove valuable in the long term. Our goal is not to showcase new developments. Our goal is to achieve the best possible results.
Before introducing any new method, our staff undergoes training, earns international certification, and completes practical preparation. Only then do we decide whether to incorporate it into our daily practice.
One of Millennium’s defining features is the Georgian ointment, whose history spans generations. How do you achieve a harmonious balance between tradition and modern medicine?
I believe that in medicine, tradition and innovation are not competitors. On the contrary, they complement one another. The Georgian ointment, which Millennium has successfully used for many years, is the result of family knowledge and decades of observation. However, we never regard it simply as a tradition. We continuously monitor its effects, analyze the results, and compare them with modern scientific knowledge.
Modern medicine gives us the opportunity to better understand the mechanisms behind what previous generations achieved through practical experience. For us, tradition is not knowledge confined to the past. It is knowledge that can be refined and developed with the support of modern science.
I believe this balance is one of the foundations of the trust our patients place in Millennium.

Today, patients are much more informed and demanding. What principles do you follow when creating an individualized treatment plan for each patient?
Modern aesthetic medicine has long moved beyond the era of standardized procedures. No two patients are exactly alike. We begin by evaluating a patient’s overall health, skin type, age, lifestyle, hormonal profile, genetic factors, and, most importantly, their expectations.
Very often, a patient comes in requesting a specific procedure, but after a professional evaluation, we explain that another approach may be more effective and appropriate for their individual case.
Our responsibility is not always to fulfill a patient’s request if it is not the right medical decision. Individualized treatment is based on this principle: every decision is made according to the needs of the individual, not according to temporary trends or popular demand.
In your work, what is more important: the latest technology or the specialist’s experience and judgment?
If I had to choose only one, I would always choose the specialist. Even the most advanced and expensive equipment is only a tool. The outcome depends on the person who understands when and how to use that technology, and whether it is needed at all.
Aesthetic medicine is not merely a technical process. It requires expertise in anatomy, physiology, dermatology, psychology, and aesthetic judgment. Technology expands our possibilities, but professionalism determines the outcome.

Can you recall a case that once again convinced you that aesthetic medicine can change not only a person’s appearance but also their self-confidence and quality of life?
There have been many such cases. We have treated numerous patients who avoided appearing in public for years because of severe skin conditions, scars, or other aesthetic concerns. After completing treatment, they returned as completely different people: more confident, open, and happy.
Moments like these remind you that aesthetic medicine is about much more than appearance. It often restores a person’s social life, professional confidence, and joy. We do not create new people. We help people feel better about themselves.

In your opinion, what qualities should a modern aesthetic medicine specialist possess?
First and foremost, professional ethics. Then come a commitment to continuous learning, responsibility, critical thinking, communication skills, and empathy.
A modern aesthetic medicine specialist can no longer simply perform procedures. They must also be a consultant, an analyst, and a professional who builds a relationship of trust with every patient.
It is equally important to know when to say “no.” Not every procedure is necessary, and not every request is medically justified. A true specialist understands that responsibility sometimes means guiding a patient toward a different decision.

How is the special trust patients feel toward Millennium built?
Trust is never created through advertising. It is built over many years. We always strive to ensure that patients understand that performing a procedure is not our only goal. We listen, explain, provide information, and make decisions together. Patients should feel that their doctor is protecting their interests and putting their well-being ahead of commercial considerations.
I believe that is why we have families who have trusted Millennium for several generations.

What does creating an academy named after your mother mean to you?
This project has emotional significance that goes far beyond its professional importance. My mother taught me the value of hard work, respect for others, and the importance of knowledge. That is why I want her name to be associated with a place where future specialists will gain not only technical skills but also professional ethics, responsibility, and humanity.
The academy’s primary purpose will be education, research, international cooperation, and the development of professionals who will represent Georgian aesthetic medicine with dignity on the global stage.

If you were to summarize Millennium’s 33-year history in one message, what would you say to your patients?
Thirty-three years have taught us one very important truth: trust cannot be bought. It can only be earned through years of honest, responsible, and dedicated work.
I sincerely thank everyone who has been with us throughout these years. Their trust has become our greatest responsibility and our strongest motivation.
To those planning to visit Millennium for the first time, I would say that they will receive much more than an aesthetic procedure. They will meet a team that places health, safety, natural-looking results, and an individualized approach above all else.
For Millennium, beauty has never been only about appearance. Our mission has always been to help people become the best version of themselves: healthy, confident, and happy.
These are the values we have upheld for 33 years, and these are the principles that will continue to guide us in the years ahead.
