Georgia, Uzbekistan sign strategic partnership agreement

Georgia and the Republic of Uzbekistan have signed a strategic partnership agreement, elevating bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership.

The joint declaration was signed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Based on a statement released by Kobakhidze’s administration, following expanded-format talks between members of the two governments, the relevant agencies of Georgia and Uzbekistan also signed memorandums of cooperation in the fields of economy, healthcare, environmental protection and agriculture, finance, customs, education, information and communication technologies, and culture.

Kobakhidze said the strategic partnership agreement opens new opportunities for cooperation in political, trade and economic, investment, scientific, technical, cultural, humanitarian, and other areas.

“Thank you for your strong support for Georgia. The signing of the strategic partnership agreement is the result of your personal support. The joint declaration is evidence of the friendship between our countries and provides a solid foundation for the sustainable development of bilateral relations and cooperation across political, trade and economic, investment, scientific, technical, cultural, humanitarian, and other fields. Strengthening our cooperation will further increase regional trade flows, reinforce transport corridors, and promote broader economic integration.

“I sincerely thank you for your support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“The progress and achievements Uzbekistan has made under your leadership are truly impressive. You have strong institutions, an effective state system, and a clear vision for the country’s development.

“You are an exemplary leader, and we are confident that under your leadership, bilateral cooperation and friendship between our countries will grow even stronger,” Kobakhidze said.

For his part, Mirziyoyev described the elevation of Georgian-Uzbek relations to the level of a strategic partnership as a major achievement.

“I thank our Georgian friends for their warm welcome. On behalf of the people of Uzbekistan and myself, I sincerely thank you for awarding me the country’s high state decoration, the Golden Fleece.

“Elevating Georgian-Uzbek relations to the level of a strategic partnership is a significant achievement. Georgia’s impressive economic progress deserves special recognition, and I sincerely congratulate you on these results. Despite the global economic situation, such achievements are undoubtedly the result of the consistent and effective work of the government and your entire team.

“Today, Georgia rightfully ranks among the world’s fastest-growing economies. Behind this success stands the effort of visionary political leaders under your leadership. Georgia is an important partner and a reliable pillar for us in the South Caucasus. Cooperation between our two countries has been developing dynamically across all areas in recent years, and this is only the beginning,” the Uzbek president said.
