Deputy Minister: Gov’t Works Actively to Open Businesses on February 1

The government representatives held yet another meeting with the representatives of shopping malls.

Following the instruction of the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia, the meeting once again addressed the mandatory standards for the safe opening of the shopping malls and the protection of epidemiological security before the gradual lifting of the restrictions.

Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Irakli Nadareishvili, pointed out at the meeting that the Georgian government has been actively working to open businesses on February 1.

“In this context, another working meeting was held with the trade sector, where we discussed the conditions that the sector will have to meet in order to ensure the smooth resumption of their operation and activities from February 1. Among them, this includes regulations developed and implemented in the previous period and regular testing of company employees, which will be one of the conditions for the business to continue working continuously,” said Irakli Nadareishvili.

For the record, based on the government’s decision, coronavirus-related restrictions in Georgia will remain in force until February 1.

Restrictions will remain in place, including for public transport and shopping malls.

Earlier, it was announced that restrictions on the operation of municipal and intercity transport and shops and outdoor and indoor markets would be restored starting January 18, however, based on today’s decision of the government, these restrictions will be extended until February.
