Archaeologists have uncovered a rare 9th–10th century chainmail shirt during excavations at the medieval palace site within the Rustavi fortress complex.
The current archaeological mission, launched in July under the initiative of Rustavi City Hall, focuses on exploring the remains of a palace dating back to the Middle Ages.
In addition to the chainmail, researchers unearthed several other significant artifacts, most notably a helmet from the same period, which experts say is the only known example of a 9th–10th century combat helmet found in the South Caucasus.
