TBC Marks 33 Years: A Story of Confidence, Courage, and Restless Progress

On December 17, TBC Bank celebrated its 33rd anniversary. Over three decades, every stage of the brand’s development has been shaped by its own context, purpose, and rationale—yet all are united by one defining message: “Believe.” This belief lies at the very foundation of TBC’s story.
TBC’s 33-year journey has been largely defined by its distinctive corporate culture and five core values that form the company’s DNA: teamwork, customer focus, determination, courage, and restlessness. Each phase of the company’s evolution reflects these principles.
Teamwork became the cornerstone of TBC’s success from the very beginning. In 1992, at a time when more than 200 banks operated in the country, TBC’s team rapidly secured a position among Georgia’s top ten banks. This achievement was not the result of individual effort, but of a strong, united team working toward a shared vision.
Customer focus came to the forefront between 2000 and 2010. During this period, TBC significantly expanded its operations, moving beyond traditional banking to develop products and services tailored to customers’ needs and interests, while creating new opportunities for them. This value fully aligns with the company’s mission—to make people’s lives easier.
Determination defined TBC’s growth from 2011 to 2020. During these years, the bank acquired Republic Bank and Constanta Bank, built a digital ecosystem including TNET, TBC Insurance, and TBC Leasing, and in 2014 successfully listed on the London Stock Exchange—an important milestone that marked TBC’s international recognition.
Courage naturally followed determination. In 2020, driven by bold ambition, TBC entered the Uzbek market and has since demonstrated exceptional growth. What was once considered an impossible mission has become reality: today, TBC is an international company serving millions of customers and continuing to expand at scale.
Another defining element of TBC’s culture is restlessness—the refusal to settle for what has already been achieved and a constant drive toward innovation. TBC’s technological leadership and digital transformation are direct results of this mindset. The same spirit is embodied in TBC’s new headquarters: a modern, technology-driven, sustainability-oriented, and people-centered space with distinctive architecture and work environments for the region. It is here that a new chapter in TBC’s brand history will soon be written.
At TBC, the relationship between the brand and its customers is seen as a two-way journey. The company does not only receive—it gives back. As a sign of gratitude, TBC creates opportunities for its millions of loyal customers and contributes to the broader development of society. Its corporate social responsibility initiatives—spanning education, business support, sustainable development, culture, and sports—strongly reflect TBC’s core message: “Believe.”
Today, TBC’s success story is shaped by 25 million customers and 14,000 employees in Georgia and Uzbekistan—people who believe in their own potential and in shared goals. Thirty-three years of confidence, determination, restlessness, and courage define TBC’s journey to date and lay the foundation for its future achievements.
TBC and EBRD Host Sanctions Compliance Masterclass for Corporate Clients

A sanctions compliance masterclass for TBC’s corporate clients was held with the support of TBC Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The event was financially supported by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
The masterclass brought together representatives of small, medium-sized, and large businesses. Its primary objective was to raise awareness of international sanctions regimes, reduce compliance-related risks, and help ensure the continuity and resilience of business operations.
The sessions were led by experts from consulting firm Skyward Solutions, who shared practical insights with participants. Topics included how and where to access reliable sanctions-related information, methods for identifying and managing risks, and best practices for selecting trustworthy partners and channels in international trade.
As a leading financial institution in Georgia, TBC strictly adheres to all international regulations, which remains one of the bank’s highest priorities. At the same time, TBC places strong emphasis on equipping its partners with comprehensive knowledge of international compliance requirements. This approach enables businesses to proactively assess potential risks and build a stable, secure, and sustainable operating environment.

TBC Leasing Issues USD 45 Million Bond with Support from TBC Capital

Tbilisi, Georgia — TBC Leasing, with the support of TBC Capital, has successfully issued USD 45 million in three-year, fixed-rate bonds under the Capital Market Support State Program implemented by the Enterprise Georgia.
TBC Capital acted as the exclusive placement agent for the transaction.
During the offering period, the coupon rate range was set at 7.0%–7.50%. Due to strong investor demand, the final coupon was fixed at 7.25%. High oversubscription also led to an increase in the issuance size—from the initially planned USD 30 million to USD 45 million.
The majority of bond investors were retail (individual) investors. Proceeds from the issuance will be used to expand TBC Leasing’s leasing portfolio.
Otar Sharikadze, Director of TBC Capital, commented:
“I congratulate TBC Leasing on the successful placement of the largest USD-denominated retail bond issuance in the local capital market. Demand for the securities was exceptionally high, and it is particularly noteworthy that most investors were individuals—clear evidence of strong trust in the company.
We are pleased that TBC Leasing continues to remain active in the capital market; together, we have now completed five public issuances. Since the beginning of the year, with TBC Capital’s involvement, 11 public transactions have been executed on the local market, totaling nearly GEL 800 million. Additional placements are planned by year-end, allowing us to firmly maintain our position as market leader.”
Mikheil Khidureli, Director of Enterprise Georgia, stated:
“I congratulate TBC Leasing on the successful issuance of USD 45 million in bonds. This transaction once again demonstrates the private sector’s readiness and interest in using capital markets as an alternative source of financing.
Improving access to finance is a strategic priority of the Georgian government’s economic policy. Through Enterprise Georgia, we implement business support programs that help local small and medium-sized enterprises access alternative financing sources. This year, the Capital Market Support Program is expected to deliver record results, which I believe will encourage other companies to follow suit.”
Gaga Gogua, CEO of TBC Leasing, added:
“We are pleased that TBC Leasing, as a market leader, continues to set successful precedents in Georgia together with reliable partners. The USD 45 million bond issuance is unprecedented and represents one of the largest transactions ever seen in the local retail bond market.
Funds raised through this issuance will be fully directed toward financing the micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) sector—one of the key drivers of Georgia’s economy. This transaction will further strengthen support for local businesses, improve access to finance, and contribute to sustainable economic growth. This is not only a financial success but also a strong signal of the market’s high level of trust in our company.”
Company Background
TBC Leasing has been operating in Georgia’s leasing market for 22 years and has held the position of industry leader since 2013. The company offers a wide range of products, including financial leasing, operating leasing, and leaseback solutions.
As of June 2025, TBC Leasing holds an 86% market share, with a portfolio totaling GEL 604 million. The company is 100% owned by TBC Bank, one of Georgia’s leading commercial banks.
TBC Leasing has received the highest credit rating among non-bank financial institutions in Georgia from Fitch Ratings, rated ‘BB’ with a Stable Outlook.
Communal Hotels: A TBC Business Awards Finalist’s Story

The boutique hotel concept is defined by small scale, strong individuality, and a clear departure from standardized chain models. Rather than offering simple accommodation, boutique hotels create a distinctive guest experience through unique design, storytelling, and a strong connection to local culture and place.
This philosophy lies at the heart of Communal Boutique Hotels. Located in Tbilisi’s historic districts, as well as in Telavi and Kutaisi, each of the four Communal properties reflects the character of its city through individual design, local aesthetics, and regional cuisine.
With many years of experience in hospitality, founder Katya Samsonadze made the decision to launch her own business in 2017—fully aware that it would not stop at a single hotel.
“From the very beginning, my husband and I envisioned creating lifestyle boutique hotels in Georgia’s most remarkable locations. At that time, this niche simply didn’t exist, which made our initiative especially timely. When we opened our first hotel, the market confirmed that we had made the right decision,” says Samsonadze, who is personally involved in shaping the concept of every Communal space. As a result, each hotel carries a unique identity while remaining part of the brand’s shared vision.
The network of conceptual restaurants and boutique hotels, Communal Hotels, became a finalist and won third place at the TBC Business Awards in the category “Best Product.”
“One thing is how guests evaluate your work, and another is seeing your business through the eyes of a professional jury. It was a truly interesting challenge and experience—a great opportunity to look at the product we create from a different perspective,” Samsonadze notes.
The phrase guests repeat most often is simple yet telling: “It felt like home.” Comfort and a sense of safety are emotions people usually associate with their own homes—and naturally, these are the places they want to return to. This is reflected in reality: both international and Georgian guests repeatedly return to Communal Hotels.
“Because of the small scale, guests spend a lot of time together—talking, exchanging ideas, connecting. This intimacy creates relationships. If you don’t enjoy human interaction, Communal probably won’t become your favorite place,” Samsonadze adds.
The story of Communal demonstrates how a clear vision and a human-centered approach can transform the boutique hotel concept into genuine value. It is a brand that measures growth not by speed, but by quality. As the team itself says, each new project is better than the last.
Success is a journey—what matters most is believing in it

“What Does It Take to Win?” – Morning Meeting Series Continues with Support from TBC Business and Visa

Over the past two weeks, social media has been buzzing with coverage of the “Rkena” MMA battles. The fight held at the Sports Palace attracted an audience of 7,500 spectators. One of the headline fighters was Merab Sharikadze, former captain of Georgia’s national rugby team, who made a victorious MMA debut. Yet, the octagon showcased many stars, each with a different answer to the central question: “What does it take to win?”
Georgians’ passion for combat sports is no secret, and the strong public interest in the newly established MMA organization in Georgia was expected. The primary supporter of “Rkena” is Setanta Sports. Behind the scenes, organizers invested months of intensive preparation to deliver a fully sold-out arena filled with fans.
On December 10, at Block D, a special gathering brought together those who had expended as much energy off the octagon as the fighters themselves.
Setanta Sports’ Creative Content Director Givi Kemoklidze, along with content creators Anano Dodelia, Mindia Tsiklauri, and Murtaz Chikovani, and now MMA fighter Merab Sharikadze, shared insights with an eager audience about building the “Rkena” brand.
For the creative team, the goal was clear: to craft a brand that would create a strong emotional connection with fans. “If you’ve ever heard Georgian wrestler Nika Kocharov’s version of ‘What does wrestling need?’, it’s impossible not to be moved,” noted Anano Dodelia.
“Our aim was to bring the audience into the arena without knowing exactly what emotions they would experience. The visuals were intentionally simple to match the Georgian theme, yet highly emotional. The result was incredible. This energy and motivation even reached those who normally have no interest in combat sports. Working in sports is extremely rewarding—it’s one of the most emotionally charged fields,” she added.
Givi Kemoklidze highlighted the unique nature of sports content, emphasizing that the athlete is always the central figure:
“This field has its own specificity and an informed audience. You can’t mislead them or claim a fighter is the best without evidence. The creative’s job is to find the athlete’s unique qualities and bring them to the forefront,” he explained. Initially, the campaign was planned for an audience of 500, but fan response quickly exceeded expectations.
“I welcome constructive criticism, but when Rkena’s content was first launched, I couldn’t find a single flaw,” said Mindia Tsiklauri.
Murtaz Chikovani added: “Filming a movie, you know the ending in advance. Sports is different—you prepare for multiple outcomes and create parallel realities. For years, we’ve worked on UFC content, always preparing to celebrate victories. And we know: if we lose, content naturally emerges. This approach works.”
Merab Sharikadze had kept his MMA preparation private for months, first from family and then from the public. Returning to the octagon after an 18-month sports hiatus was a major responsibility.
“I couldn’t imagine myself at such events initially, so I hesitated. Later, I realized that with Setanta organizing it, the level of professionalism would be high, and I wouldn’t embarrass myself. Honestly, the result exceeded every expectation. The warmth and love from the fans alone made it worth it—even if I had lost. (Although losing was never an option.) The content created during the process was crucial. Even the gear matters—you need to like it yourself; it sets the mood. Now I truly understand what the saying ‘Dream Big’ means. It’s real,” Sharikadze shared.
Following this first successful event, the team’s future plans already aim at engaging an international audience.

The platform remains open for new signatories, and UN Women continues to expand its reach.

As a signatory of the WEPs, TBC demonstrates its long-term commitment to gender equality, embedding these principles into its policies, processes, and business decisions.
