The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs of Georgia publishes a statement reporting that in order to protect cultural heritage monuments with proper quality, the Ministry of Culture is launching a register of restoration-conservation masters of cultural heritage monuments.
This year is planned to create a register of masters and launching their certification system is scheduled for 2022.
From May 6 to June 15, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia will receive applications of masters of the following profession: stonemason, carpenter, bricklayer, roofing master,blacksmith-locksmith,furniture-maker, woodcarver, decorator.
After receiving the applications, the candidates will be presented to a special commission, which will be staffed with professional architects-restorers and other relevant specialists in the field. As a result of the interview, the commission either issues a recommendation on employment in the system of the Ministry of Culture or indicates pre-employment training. Advanced training courses are provided by the Ministry of Culture. The register of masters consists of persons employed or sent to advanced training courses.
Eventually, people who will register, receive additional practical experience, and in case of successful completion of the one-year period – a certificate. It is envisaged that from May 1, 2022, only specialists who have certified professional skills will be eligible to work on cultural heritage sites.
