Three persons accused of attacking Formula TV journalist Vakho Sanaia: Suliko Sakevarashvili, Giorgi Sakhelashvili and Vazha Gigauri, remain in custody, Tbilisi City Court judge Ketevan Jachvadze announced.
The Prosecutor’s Office demanded that the accused remained in custody, for fear of the dangers posed by the detainees, such as their hiding, destroying evidence, or committing new crimes.
The lawyers demanded that the defendants be released without a measure of restraint, and offered their release on 4,000 GEL bail as an alternative.
Law enforcers arrested the three for threatening and persecuting Vakho Sanaia on the grounds of intolerance and discrimination.
The prosecution charged the defendants with three criminal offenses: Article 156, Part 2, Subparagraph A, Article 151, Part 1, and Article 126, Part 1. If approved, the charge carries up to 3 years in prison.
