The 11th European Air Gymnastics Championship, organized by the Global Air Power Athletics Federation (GAPAF), took place in Tbilisi on Saturday. Gymnasts performed acrobatic elements and choreographic routines on silks and rings.
During the award ceremony, gymnasts ascended the podium to receive their well-deserved medals.
“You either immerse yourself completely or you won’t become a professional. It requires various skills and consistency: balance, the ability to work with the apparatus, and a sense of your equipment,” emphasized one of the participants.
A young participant noted that she feels “joy in her heart” during training and performances. In the future, she plans to represent her country at the World Championship.
The organizer of the tournament mentioned that the competition has no age restrictions. Among the participants was even a 48-year-old athlete. “Today, 75 medals were given: 35 gold, as well as silver and bronze. Mostly, all the gold medals were taken today because we have many categories and they are further divided into subcategories,” he added.
According to the organizers, more than 100 gymnasts from 8 countries participated in the championship.
